Digital Arts becomes Arts Council England's tenth supported artform

Arts Council England, 29 January 2026 , England

‘Digital Arts’ joins Collections and Cultural Property, Combined Arts, Dance, Libraries, Literature, Museums, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts as Arts Council England’s tenth supported artform.

Arts Council England is set to recognise Digital Arts as a new artistic artform, marking a major milestone for both ACE and the wider cultural sector.

Confirmed by Arts Council England’s National Council in September, Digital Arts will sit alongside our existing disciplines (Theatre, Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Combined Arts, Museums, Libraries and Literature) as a recognised area of practice. It is the first new discipline Arts Council England has introduced in decades, and one of the first times anywhere in the world that a public arts funder has taken this step.
