Arts Council Malta, 13 October 2026, Malta

The week-long programme brought together cultural practitioners from other countries with institutions, independent spaces, artists and cultural professionals in Malta

Arts Council Malta recently hosted the Re:Create Europe international exchange programme in Malta, a week-long programme that explored cultural policy, artistic practice and resilience through direct interaction with Malta's cultural ecosystem.

The programme was held between the 6th and 12th of October under the theme "Malta, the Mediterranean and beyond", and included workshops, meetings, visits to studios and institutions, and sessions with artists and cultural practitioners across Malta and Gozo.

The international exchange programme was part of Re:Create Europe, a 4-year Creative Europe project that is bringing together ten partner organisations from across Europe to examine artistic freedom, cultural autonomy and the conditions faced by artists and cultural professionals in their work. The 2026 programme focuses on Transforming Cultural Policies, examining how cultural sectors respond to changing social, political and economic realities.
