Southern Africa is celebrating a remarkable achievement in the cultural and creative sector, with four initiatives from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe selected for support under UNESCO programmes dedicated to advancing artistic freedom, strengthening the status of artists and cultural professionals, and fostering more inclusive and sustainable creative ecosystems. These initiatives reflect the region's growing commitment to ensuring that artists can create, innovate and thrive while contributing to social cohesion, economic development and cultural diversity.
