Every January 24, the international community celebrates the World Day for African and Afro-descendant Culture, a date dedicated to the recognition and enhancement of the cultures of the African continent and its diasporas. Instituted by UNESCO in 2019, at the initiative of Togo and the NGO RAPEC, this day coincides with the adoption of the Charter of the African Cultural Renaissance, which enshrines culture as a fundamental lever for peace, social cohesion and sustainable development.
