In 2024, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland supported arts and culture in the form of grants and prizes with a total of EUR 46.4 million. The amount of support granted was EUR 3.4 million less than in 2023.
In 2024, Taike awarded a total of EUR 46.4 million in discretionary government transfers. For the first time in Taike's history, the amount of discretionary government transfers was smaller than in the previous year. The total amount of grants decreased by almost seven per cent (EUR 3.4 million) compared to Taike's 2023 grants. The decrease was due to cuts in appropriations and the end of special grants for cultural activities in sparsely populated rural areas and the related separate appropriation.
For the 2024 grants, Taike processed a total of 15,526 grant and subsidy applications, of which 2,169 received a positive decision. On average, 21 per cent of the applicants received the support they applied for.
The number of positive decisions decreased clearly. In 2024, Taike awarded 11 per cent fewer grants and subsidies than in 2023. The decrease was due to the cuts in appropriations, but also to Taike's strategic choice to respond to the cuts by allocating subsidies more precisely.
Of the EUR 46.4 million in support distributed by Taike, EUR 24.6 million was granted to private individuals and working groups, EUR 21.4 million to communities and EUR 0.4 million to recipients of state prizes and regional art awards.
In 2024, the largest amounts of Taike's support were granted to the fields of visual arts (EUR 7.7 million), theatre (EUR 6.6 million), literature (EUR 6.3 million), music (EUR 6.2 million) and dance (EUR 4.9 million).
