Secretariat

The Federation’s secretariat is an independent not-for-profit company registered as an income tax exempt charity. It is located at the Australia Council offices in Sydney, Australia. The company name is International Arts Federation Services Pty Ltd, Australian Business Number (ABN) 19 096 797 330.

Sarah Gardner, Executive Director

Sarah GardnerSince March 2001, Sarah Gardner has been the founding Executive Director of IFACCA. She was previously the Director, Strategic Initiatives at the Australia Council, where she held various senior executive roles from 1990. She was formerly the Director of Public Affairs for the Australian Bicentennial Authority and a consultant in the private and public sectors for the leading Australian firm Issues Australia. Prior to that she was technical manager with the German company, Schering AG, and worked freelance in the tourism industry and community sector in England, Italy, Scotland and Spain. Karilyn Brown, General Manager

Karilyn BrownKarilyn Brown joined IFACCA in February 2009. Karilyn’s career has included 20 years with the Australia Council for the Arts, most recently as Executive Director responsible for national and international audience and market development, and for several major international projects such as Australia’s participation in the Venice Biennale and the Australian Indigenous Art Commission at the Musée du quai Branly in Paris. She was also responsible for developing and implementing a number of major, long term arts and cultural strategic development programs in Europe, the US and Japan.  Karilyn’s other positions have included Program Manager for the 1997-2000 Olympic Arts Festivals and Paralympic Arts Festival programs with the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, and Manager, Cultural Policy at the City of Sydney.  She has also set up and managed several artists initiatives and organisations in the area of contemporary arts practice.

Louise Godley, Administrator

Louise GodleyLouise Godley has been in Australia since November 2000 and worked at the Australia Council for the Arts, spending a brief time with the Policy, Communication and Research division on the development of the Council’s Youth and the Arts Policy, and then with the Literature Board, before joining IFACCA in January 2003.  Louise was previously Patient Services Manager for Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Health Authority, spending eight years in the UK’s National Health Service. Louise studied in Winchester, England, and has a BA (Hons) in History and Archaeology.  Louise loves her Royal Enfield motorbike and is enjoying studying Spanish, the cajón, the ukulele and Latin dance.

Natasha Eves, Research and Project Officer

Natasha EvesNatasha previously worked at the Australia Council for the Arts, where she was a Project Coordinator. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Languages) from the University of Sydney, part of which was undertaken at the Sorbonne University, Paris, and speaks French, Italian and some Spanish. She also has a Master of Media Practice and is an accomplished trumpet player.

Diane Dodd,IFACCA European Liaison Officer and Coordinator of ConnectCP

Diane DoddDiane Dodd works part-time for IFACCA as both its European Liaison officer and as co-ordinator of ConnectCP. In addition to her work with IFACCA she is conducting research at the University of Girona for a UNESCO study into cities with historic academic centres. In 2006, she co-authored 'a Cultural Component as an integral part of the EU's Foriegn Policy?' - a study into the foreign cultural policies of the EU member states. Prior to working with IFACCA, Diane co-ordinated the RECAP network of cultural documentation centres; CPRO - Cultural Policy Research On-line and during 10 years, she managed the secretariat of CIRCLE. She has edited a number of books in the field of cultural policy and cultural management on subjects related to cultural management training, youth culture, eCulture, cultural citizenship and European cultural tourism. Santiago Jara Ramirez, IFACCA Coordinator for Latin America

Santiago Jara RamirezSantiago is the IFACCA Coordinator for Latin America based at the Ministerio de Cultura de Colombia. Since graduating in 2001 he has worked in public institutions dedicated to the support of artistic and cultural expression: the Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, affiliated to the District’s Institute for Culture and Tourism, and the Department of Cinematography. He is also interested in research, teaching and text editing, such as the report on the Latin American Conference on Artistic Education and academic publications like Juan de Solórzano y Pereira: pensar la Colonia desde la Colonia. He has undertaken research on cultural policy at the Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo and is currently enrolled at the Universidad de los Andes’ Master in Political Philosophy.
