Arts Audiences' publishes reports from the Build your Audience Scheme and the New Media Mentoring Scheme

1. Co-ordinating digital media applications: Droichead Arts Centre report on mentoring from Aoife Flynn

The first report published was from Marcella Bannon, Director of the Droichead Arts Centre. Marcella was mentored by Aoife Flynn of asquared. Droichead Arts Centre were using a range of new media applications but lacked an overall plan as to how to co ordinate these. Under Aoife's mentoring, Marcella put together a strategy to manage their use of the various applications in order to best keep in touch with their audiences. This report will be of interest to those looking to co-ordiate a range of digital media applications to best engage with audiences.

 2. Re-evaluating your web strategy: NYCI report on mentoring from RTÉ publishing

Emmet Sheerin and Anne O’Gorman from the National Youth Council of Ireland entered the mentoring process looking for assistance with building an on-line community and social media network. However the valuable lesson they learnt from their mentors in RTÉ Publishing was to first concentrate on getting the basics right, and as such Emmet and Anne’s report will provide very informative reading for those considering starting a blog or social media campaign and looking to optimise their overall presence.

The third report published was from Rayne Booth, Publicity Officer with Temple Bar Gallery and Studios. The TBG&S website was designed in 2005, and is due to be updated. Without careful advance planning, it can be a difficult and costly process to build a website. Aoife Flynn assisted Rayne in the development of a web design brief. Anyone considering building a website should find Rayne's report very useful.

Build Your Audience - update
The Build Your Audience initiative, launched in September 2009, is now reaching its conclusions. In this initiative, Arts Audiences engaged UK marketing consultant Heather Maitland to provide audience consultancy to three arts organisations. This consultancy, which was provided to the organisations free of charge, addressed specific issues facing these organisatons as the sought to engage with audiences.

The first report arising from this initiative, entitled A Guide to Marketing Your Production on Tour, is a highly informative, in-depth document which has been produced by Coisceim Dance Theatre with Heather Maitland.  The report will be of interest to anyone involved in marketing, especially those thinking of touring a production around Ireland.
