Edition No. 4, journal Pensamiento Iberoamericano: Cultural Diversity’s Power

Ibero-America’s cultural diversity is undeniable. But, does diversity have power? Social sciences, literature, visual and media arts, journalism and political debates have revealed the heterogeneity of the Ibero-American world and have asked themselves what can be done with it. Is it possible to conceive this universe as a unity and to develop joint policies for Portugal, Spain and the Latin American countries? These nations are separated not only by the two dominant languages –Spanish and Portuguese–, but the hundreds of indigenous languages, the powerful heritage of Afro-American origin, national frontiers on dispute and regional cultures that –both in Spain and Latin America– fragment the unity proclaimed by the national states.

Bartolomé, Enrique Bustamante, José Jorge De Carvalho, Estrella De Diego, Milagros del Corral, Néstor García Canclini, Octavio Getino, Mercedes Giovinnazo, Martín Hoppenhayn, Alfons Martinell, Juan Luís Mejía, Cecilia Paz Miranda, Paula Marcela Moreno, Adela Pellegrino, Germán Rey, Andrea Vigoritto y Elena Vilardell.
