The History of Danish Arts Policy
This website provides a brief history of arts policy in Denmark, from the setting up of the Fonden Ad Usus Publicus ("Fund for the Public Benefit") in 1765, to the establishment of the Danish Arts Agency in 2003. The web page also provides a link to the publication 'Danish Cultural Policy - 2002', which gives a short introduction to Danish cultural policy and details briefly some of the national institutions, cultural institutes, councils and boards for which the Danish Ministry of Culture is responsible. Following an introductory chapter on cultural policy in Denmark and a chapter dealing with overall public subsidies to the arts and culture, the individual areas of cultural life in Denmark are described. In each area a list and account is given of arts and cultural institutes in Denmark, which will be helpful to the reader in finding further information. You can download the publication, HERE.
