Pew Internet & American Life Project have released a report summarising their findings from the first large-scale surveys of the internet’s impact on artists and musicians in the United States.
The report is divided into 4 key sections:

There is also additional summary and methodolgy data included.
Authored by Mary Madden, the report's chief finding was that artists and musicians have embraced the internet as a tool that helps them create, promote, and sell their work. However, they are divided about the impact and importance of free file-sharing and other copyright issues
