Annual General Assembly of the Namibia National Commission for UNESCO
The Namibia National Commission for UNESCO held its Annual General Assembly (AGM) on 18 November 2011. The AGM was attended by members of the Executive and Programme Committees of the Namibia National Commission for UNESCO.
The main purpose of the Annual General Assembly is; to receive reports from the Executive Committee on the work of the Commission for the year, including the accounts, and to take measures for the further development of the programmes, projects and activities of the National Commission.
Prof. Alaphia Wright, Director and UNESCO Representative to the UNESCO Windhoek Cluster Countries addressed the General Assembly on: “Achieving the Education for All (EFA) and education related Millennium Goals by 2011.” The topic was selected to reflect on where Namibia stands globally, in Africa and in the Southern African sub-region when compared with other UNESCO Member States regarding the achievement of the EFA and education related MDG Goals by the internationally agreed upon deadline of 2015.
