Arts and Older People - Equality Impact Assessment
Arts and Older People - Equality Impact Assessment
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has completed an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) on the Arts and Older People strategy.
An EQIA is a thorough and systematic analysis of a policy. Its purpose is to improve the work of the Arts Council by making sure we promote equality and do not discriminate.
The assessment makes reference to the nine grounds that falls under Section 75:
•religious belief,
•political opinion,
•racial group,
•age,
•marital status
•sexual orientation,
•between men and women generally;
•between persons with a disability and persons without, and
•between persons with dependants and persons without.
The EQIA determines if the policy has any negative impact on any of the nine categories and an alternative to the policy to achieve the promotion of equality of opportunity.
The Arts Council is committed to ensuring full compliance with its equality duties under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act and the completion of the Outcome EQIA report on the Arts and Older People Strategy is evidence of this commitment.
