From game to art
For many of us, computers have become our principal tool of work and our favourite toy. Through its GameCulture programme lasting from autumn 2010 to 2012, Pro Helvetia aims to strengthen the artistic input in the booming computer game scene and encourage a broadly based public debate on this new form of art.
At the launch of the programme in Baden on 9 September 2010, Pro Helvetia is issuing a call for Swiss computer game projects under the heading «Call for Projects: Swiss Games» together with the Federal Office of Culture, the Fantoche International Animation Film Festival and the Suisa foundation for music. The four partners will also present the associated selection criteria.
In addition, the launching ceremony includes a Pacman performance by Swiss artist Guillaume Raymond (NotsoNoisy) and a high-profile panel discussion on the topic of Swiss creativity in an international context. Among the panellists are G. de Fondaumière, President of the European Game Developer Federation (EGDF) and CEO Quantic Dream; C.L. Scheurer, concept artist in Hollywood and R. Arrigoni, European Director of Pixelux Entertainment SA.
