Addressing his first Creative Scotland dialogue audience, Andrew Dixon said that Creative Scotland would take a holistic view of Scotland and “invest in ideas, talent and places.”
He encouraged the audience to view Creative Scotland as a ‘rallying call’ rather than an institution and said, “We need artists, cultural organisations, partners and the media to champion Creative Scotland. We will seek to highlight all that is strong in Scottish arts, culture, creative industries and film. Everyone in this room has a part to play, It will be a cast of thousands.”
Andrew Dixon further said that the first year of Creative Scotland would be a transition year but assured those present that they would start to “notice a change in pace, language and culture.”  “We will not deal with all sectors at once but we will take some initial areas such as Internationalism and Traditional arts to start to identify how Creative Scotland can add value.”
Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop said: “Creative Scotland is well on its way to being established. This is a great opportunity for a fresh agenda for culture and the arts, and for creativity and innovation to become a key focus for the economy and society across Scotland.”
Other speakers included Richard Holloway, Chair of the Joint Board of the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen. The event was chaired by Ruth Wishart.
