Local Partnership Scheme with new cultural diversity strand
The Arts Council re-introduces the Local Partnership Scheme which is designed to encourage new, local authority-led partnerships and innovative collaborative arts projects, including specific projects in the area of cultural diversity and the arts.
The Council is now seeking project proposals from local authority arts services, for projects commencing in 2010, which actively embrace the notion of partnership. The closing date for receipt of online applications to this scheme is Thursday, 3 June 2010 at 5.30pm.
This scheme is intended to encourage and support partnerships and new collaborations between local authorities, arts organisations and other relevant groups or organisations at local, regional, national and international level.
As well as having a general strand, the Scheme will this year introduce a new cultural diversity and the arts strand. Arising from ongoing research and policy development in this area, this is intended to promote the development of intercultural capacity in the arts across local authorities. For further details on strategic initiatives in the area of cultural diversity, please contact Orla Moloney, Head of Arts Participation, on +353 1 618 0215 or at orla.moloney@artscouncil.ie.
Under the Local Partnership Scheme in 2010, funding for innovative, collaborative arts projects, resources or services, can be sought for either of two phases of a project:
•A research and development phase, up to a maximum of €10,000
•A project implementation phase, up to a maximum of €20,000
Since its introduction in 2004 this scheme has supported a number of landmark collaborative initiatives, some of which have become mainstreamed into ongoing provision. Recent examples of projects funded under this scheme include:
•The new Verge publication, dedicated to rural arts in Ireland, and involving a partnership between 8 local authorities in the West/North-west and Galway Mayo Institute of Technology.
•The groundbreaking Altered Images project, involving a partnership between Mayo County Council, South Tipperary County Council and IMMA in which works from each of their collections have been reinterpreted in tactile and audio form.
