Cornerstone of Swiss cultural policy
In two years, the government will issue its first ever arts and culture statement. This novelty is a consequence of the new Arts and Culture Promotion Act passed by parliament in December 2009.
Together with Pro Helvetia and other partners, the Federal Office of Culture is currently working on a first draft of this statement. The schedule is tight, as the draft needs to be submitted to the cantons, municipalities and to relevant cultural organisations for comment in August, before it goes to the Federal Council in February 2011.
Finally, parliament has to approve what is destined to be the cornerstone of Swiss cultural policy. Further information at www.bak.admin.ch
