Jeju-do Provincial Government announced that it will build a World Natural Heritage Center in Jocheon-eup, Jeju island. Here, visitors can observe how the island and its Halla Mountain were formed, experience eco-tourism and learn about other items of World Natural Heritage. The center will have a number of multi-purpose zones devoted to exhibitions, education, research and so on.
Korea has nine World Heritage sites - eight being cultural and one natural - and among them, Jeju Island's volcanic mountain was designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2007.
