Culture Minister sets out the cultural objectives of the EU Presidency in order to position culture as a factor for European social and economic development
The Minister of Culture, Angeles Gonzalez-Sinde, appeared today before the Committee on Culture of the European Parliament to present the main lines of action of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union in the cultural sphere, which focuses primarily on three priority areas: nurturing cultural potential in order to build local and regional areas, culture as a factor strengthening economic growth and social cohesion, and develop and disseminate digital cultural content.

Philippines: 2010 ASEAN Cultural Capital
The Philippines has been recognized as the ‘cultural capital’ of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for 2010 and 2011. It is the first country to be given this distinction in the 10-member association of countries in the region. more >

Provisional 2010/11 arts budget announced
Following the proposed budget announcement made on Monday 11th January by the Finance Minister of a £367 million budget cut across the government departments in April 2010, the Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Nelson McCausland, has indicated that the Arts Council should plan for a budget cut of approximately £1.1 million in 2010/11. more >
