Ministers Van der Laan and Plasterk distribute money for heritage conversion

Ministers Van der Laan (Housing, Neighbourhoods and Integration) and Plasterk (Education, Culture and Science) have designated nine municipalities as focus areas to receive 3.6 million euro to redevelopment characteristic buildings and sites.  

The committee evaluated 59 projects. In the memoranda of Architecture and Spatial Design, the culture of design project as 8 million euros earmarked for conversion of (cultural) heritage. Ministers Van der Laan and Plasterk contribute to each half to this.

The grant amounts range from 50,000 euros for initiatives in Leeuwarden and Heerlen to almost 900,000 euros for the plans in the Rotterdam focus districts. The proposals include the conversion of, for example, old power plants and schools. Churches can sign up next year for half the remaining tranche of which 4.4 million euro is available.
