Quang Nam: popularizing traditional folk in school
Department of Performing Arts (MCST) has agreed to permit Quang Nam province to choose four lower secondary schools at such districts as Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh and Hoi An city to implement a program with a view to popularizing traditional folk into the school in 2009.
Quang Nam Opera Company will be in charge of guiding this program. Quang Nam will choose forms of folk arts including some extracts and typical folk genres: four basic genres of bai choi folk such as (Xuan Nu, Xang xe, Quang chanty, Co ban), chanty to lull a child for sleep, Quang mudguard, ditty songs (chanty for rowing boats, chanty for reply…) and so on.
Department of Performing Arts will finance the program to train pupils and guide teachers. Each school will be provided devices, properties…which is worth about 20 million VND.
