A new liaison group formed between the Arts Council and the County and City Managers' Association

One of the key objectives of Partnership for the Arts was to review and further develop our current partnership with local authorities, paying particular attention at policy level to our important relationship with the County and City Managers’ Association.

The current economic downturn provides an even greater imperative for co-operation and partnership, as we seek to work together in securing all that has been achieved in the local arts development sector over the past twenty four years. To this end the County and City Managers’ Association recently invited the Arts Council to jointly establish a liaison group between the two bodies.

The group will work formally together to address key issues and challenges faced by the sector over the coming years. Looking at issues such as evidence-based advocacy, arts and cultural planning, the social and economic impact of  local arts development and, in the immediate term, more practical resource issues, it is hoped that this group will develop a set of shared and complementary understandings, to secure and develop the commitment of the Arts Council and of local authorities to this important area of arts development.
