AFI Project 20/20 Completes a Successful Visit to China
The AFI Project: 20/20 cultural exchange program closed out it first year with a three-city visit to China in late November. More than 4,000 people attended screenings in Beijing alone with another 900 participating in Hong Kong and several hundred in Shantou. The U.S. Consulates served as hosts for the visits and the participating filmmakers took part in activities from question and answer sessions with students, aspiring filmmakers, academics and the public to workshops with trade union groups and high schools.
During 2008, AFI Project: 20/20 will send filmmakers overseas and the countries under consideration include Turkey, Egypt, Venezuela, South Africa, South Korea and others. Domestically, the program will visit Salt Lake City, Dallas, Washington, DC, New Orleans and Chicago.
