Made in Zimbabwe
The theme for the 7th National Arts Merit Awards, 'Made in Zimbabwe', has potential to be much more than a theme, but a brand name for Zimbabwean arts.
Under Made in Zimbabwe, the Arts Council celebrates the crème le de crème of the different arts genre in Zimbabwe. According to the Council, 'Zimbabwean arts must strive to churn out products that can fair well on the international market, products that can proudly bear the Made in Zimbabwe tag. This year, NAMA will reward those arts and artists that have striven for excellence, artists and works of arts that have done well on both the local and international scenes. We will reward arts that have helped shape Zimbabweans and give them a collective identity, arts that are proudly made in Zimbabwe. We will recognize those arts that answer the question who am I by proudly saying, “I was Made in Zimbabwe.” '
