Passages magazine on Swiss literature policies
The latest edition of Pro Helvetia’s magazine Passages provides an in-depth look at Swiss books, reading and literature policies.
'Mobile Words', edition 45 of Passages, introduces readers to the current status of literature promotion in Switzerland and provides insights into the country's present-day book landscape, reading habits and literary scenes. Stations on the way include a writer's desk, the Director's office at the Federal Office of Culture, and the computer screens of multi-optional internet users.
Readers are also offered glimpses beyond the confines of the here and now, glimpses of reading in the future and even the reading of the future. Images include flying books and day-dreaming humans.
The edition contains a variety of articles covering trends in the Swiss book industry, book and literature policies, and a special section on Pro Helvetia's own literature initiatives.
