Arts Council Ireland Broadens Touring Experiment

The Arts Council Ireland has broadened the scope of The Touring Experiment, bringing more organisations into its action research project designed to inform and shape future touring policy. “The second round of the Touring Experiment has broadened to include six art forms: Music, Visual Arts, Literature, Traditional Arts, Dance and Theatre,” said Council Director, Mary Cloake. “Our belief in the value of this experiment is endorsed by the high level of interest, and the quality of proposals. The Touring Experiment was designed to support a cross section of touring initiatives and these twenty six projects will offer a good range of work across the six art-forms. They include work by individuals and ensembles, exhibitions, tours focusing on the artistic process, work led by venues or producers or both, established practitioners and less well-known artists, and activity across a range of scales.” “We are confident that the Touring Experiment will assist the Arts Council in creating a policy for touring that is sustainable and will offer Irish audiences a secure future of quality and exciting artistic engagement."
