Arts Council of Northern Ireland Looks to Youth

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI) have released a report on young people’s attitudes towards the arts. The report is based on a series of consultations with young people carried out before and during this year’s Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. “In the past ACNI’s development of youth arts policy has been conducted without the direct involvement of children and young people, but rather through a consultation process via umbrella and representative organizations,” said ACNI’s Arts Development Officer for Youth Arts, Gavin O’Connor. “Uniquely, ACNI has for the first time consulted directly with young people to ascertain their views and opinions on the arts.” “This report and the accompanying DVD reflects the views and opinions of those young people consulted and are an important step towards filling the gap in our knowledge and understanding of young people’s attitudes towards the arts in Northern Ireland.” To read the report, CLICK HERE
