NEA Releases Study on the Arts and Civic Engagement

New research from the National Endowment for the Arts has found a strong link between arts participation and community health. "Healthy communities depend on active and involved citizens," said NEA Chairman Dana Gioia. "The arts play an irreplaceable role in producing both those citizens and those communities." The study, The Arts and Civic Engagement: Involved in Arts, Involved in Life, is based on interviews with 17,135 adults aged 18 and older about their activities in a 12-month period. It found that people who regularly participate in the arts are twice as likely to attend sports events, do volunteer work, and enjoy the great outdoors. For more information, CLICK HERE
