Hong Kong Council Promotes Reading

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) will again combine with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to stage a number of activities at next week’s Hong Kong Book Fair 2006. At the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, between 19-24 July, the Critic Recommendation will be staged for the sixth consecutive year. Twenty-five prominent local critics to comment on forty-odd books selected by the ADC Book Fair Selection Panel. At 3:30 pm on 19 July, well known local scholars and writers (including Liu Xin-wu, Hong Ying, Chu An-min and Su Wei-zhen) will go "In Search of Humanity in the 21st Century", discussing developments in Chinese literature. Admission is free and the seminar will be conducted in Putonghua, with interpretation in Cantonese. The Council will also again state the Reading Write-up Competition for Students, with an award presentation ceremony held on 19 July. Over 900 students have entered this year’s award. The ADC exhibition booth will feature dance, film and visual arts publication, and run workshops, musical performances and a puppet show. For more information, CLICK HERE
