Hungarian culture minister wants new policy

Culture Minister István Hiller has told a parliamentary committee that Hungary is in need of a new cultural policy. He criticised the current cultural policies for being "less colourful and potent" than the country's actual cultural life. He suggested that a new financial model is needed, which offers private funding and the use of EU money, as well as central budget funding. Hiller intends to make local cultural and education centres the focus of his work at the ministry, and hopes to encourage investment into infrastructure development and refurbishment.
