Arts Council of Wales hosts conference

The Arts Council of Wales has just held its annual conference. The event took a look at 'arts in the mainstream', how arts are changing, and how arts can be found throughout the fabric of contemporary society. ACW discussed and explored how the arts can be best integrated and mainstreamed into education, health, youth, community, diversity, welfare and economic development. Peter Tyndall, Chief Executive of ACW, said: “ACW’s annual conference is an occasion which brings together people from across the arts and across Wales. It gives an opportunity to share best practice, to learn from the work of others and to look back over the last year in the arts." Alun Pugh, Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport, said: "This Government has been responsible for the biggest ever investment in the arts in Wales. This conference is an important opportunity to reflect on the significant progress that has been achieved by the sector". A conference report will be available at the end of May 2006.
