Welsh national writing centre reopens
The National Writers' Centre for Wales officially reopened this week, after a £2 million refurbishment. The project was funded by the Arts Council of Wales Lottery Fund. The refurbishment means that better facilities and provisions for the disabled will be available. Centre Director Sally Barker, said: “Reopening and welcoming writers and aspiring writers back into the building with its wonderful new facilities is the culmination of many years of hard work. It will be a day to celebrate and a day to thank all who have been involved in various ways with the centre over the years and with the refurbishment project.” Kath Davies, Head of Capital at The Arts Council of Wales, added: "Ty Newydd has already provided inspiration for writers ranging from Beryl Bainbridge to Owen Sheers and we are confident that the new modern facilities in this wonderful historic context will inspire many more."
