The Canada Council for the Arts has received a $20 million increase in the Canadian federal budget. This brings the council's total budget to $170 million this year, and $180 million next year. The budget was handed down last week. Council Chair, Karen Kain, said the Canada Council was happy with the result. "We are pleased with the government’s budget announcement of increased funds for the arts through the Council," she said. "This is recognition of the value and importance of the arts to the quality of the lives of Canadians and their communities." For more information, CLICK HERE.
