Art moves Africa

Art Moves Africa is a new fund which has been developed to establish and facilitate cultural exchanges within Africa. AMA is supported by the Ford Foundation, and has made more than 20 grants already. It is hoped that by giving these grants through AMA, cooperation between artists and cultural operators living in Africa will be improved. Funds are used for travel costs within Africa; allowing a greater opportunity for African artists to meet other African artists, as it is considered easier to travel to Europe of America than within Africa. The focus is on travel between the five regions of Central, Eastern, Southern, Western and Northern Africa, and for the areas of performing arts, visual arts, music, literature and film. AMA Application deadlines for 2006 are 1 January, 1 April, 1 May and 1 September. Full details of the funding criteria and the application form are available on www.yatfund.org. Queries or requests for more information should be addressed to the AMA co-ordinator: Ms Khadija El Bennaoui on ama@yatfund.org Young Arab Theatre Fund a.i.s.b.l. 19 Square Sainteclette, 1000 Brussels, Belguim.
