New chairs for Welsh arts council

The Arts Council of Wales has received two new members. After the recent change of staff courtesy of the Minister of Arts, Alun Pugh, the two members will oversee the upcoming review of the council's activities. Professor Dai Smith was recently appointed interim chair, despite the fact that no advertisement was made on the last chair's, Geraint Talfan Davies, departure. Rhiannon Wyn Hughes has been elected vice chair. Smith said: “Council met this morning and we are firmly committed to taking forward the Arts Council of Wales as the key strategic facilitator for the arts. We look forward to the process of review which is now underway, and the open discussion of arts policy and organisation which this will bring.” Smith's appointment came after Davies had been nominated by the council to stand as interim chair. Davies contract had run out at the end of March, and Pugh was under obligation to nominate a new chair by the start of April. For more information, CLICK HERE.
