ACE restructures national office

The Arts Council of England has announced plans for a restructure of its national office. Proposed changes are hoped to create a national office that will better implement the organisation's strategies and policies. The more streamlined Arts Council will build on the success of the merger with the regional arts organisations that became ACE in 2003. The office will focus on four main areas: policy and innovation, performance and programs, advocacy and communications, and resources. A reduction of 42 posts from the current national office will occur, with a 21% cut in permanent staff. Savings associated with these cuts is estimated to be £2 million per year. Peter Hewitt, Chief Executive of Arts Council England said: “This review of the national office will give the Arts Council the right structure and shape for the 21st century. We will be able to be confident in our strategy to deliver the best, have a solid evidence base to demonstrate true creativity and value, and have a knowledgeable and experienced team, working across all areas of arts development, to deliver dynamic opportunities for arts organisation, artists and audiences alike."
