New report reveals participation in arts

The Australia Council for the Arts has produced a new report on the statistics of Australian participation in the arts. The report, Artswork 2: A report on Australians working in the arts has found that the participation of Australians in the arts rivals that in organised sport. One in five people over the age of 15 were involved in some sort of cultural work in 2004, with almost 1 million of these having paid work in the arts. Roughly 790 000 Australians created visual art, 556 000 wrote, 424 000 were in the performing arts, and 305 000 played music. For more information, CLICK HERE.
