Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, Minister of Culture and Communication for France is pleased with the decision of the European Commission to authorise a package of French national grants in favour of cinema and the audio-visual sector, until 2011. more >

N. Ireland arts council meets delegation from Malta
A government delegation from Malta recently visited the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, to further develop cultural links. The Permanent Secretary to the Maltese Minister for Culture and Tourism visited the council's Belfast headquarters, as well as meeting representatives of Department of Culture Arts and Leisure. more >

New Architecture Consultant for Arts Council

Every province in Thailand has its own arts council. The 76 regional departments develop their own culture policy based on national guidelines, attuning activities to the local needs. Ireland publishes guidelines for children in arts
The Arts Council of Ireland has recently published guidelines on the protection and welfare of children and young people in the arts. The guidelines have taken two years to create and aim to assist arts organisations in creating policies and procedures to safeguard youth welfare during arts activities. more >
N. Ireland Council creates £9.2m arts centre
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has committed £9.2m for a new arts centre in Belfast. The venue will house the Old Museum Arts Centre, a 350-seat theatre, a 150-seat studio, exhibition and workshop space. more >
Scotland changes arts funding policies
The Scottish Arts Council has agreed that from April 2007, it will change the way it supports the arts in Scotland. The changes will focus more on the needs of artists, ensure a healthier, sustainable arts sector, and reinforce its commitment to improving opportunities to artists. more >
Wales arts budget released
The budget for 2006 and 2007 has been released by the Arts Council of Wales. There will be major changes, with a 2.72% increase to most arts organisations, funding for disadvantaged areas, £1m for arts outside of Cardiff, and £10,000 for the Tŷ Newydd writers’ centre. more >
