Egyptian culture ministry focuses on museums
The Egyptian Ministry of Culture will be focusing on museums for 2006, with five new museums to be built. The focus comes at a time when Egypt is struggling to preserve newly discovered and stored artifacts. Five new museums will be opened, with three others to re-open after restoration and developments. Many more projects will be undertaken, with museums and heritage items being repaired, protected and presented to the world. "2006 is a revolutionary year for Egypt's museums and museology," Culture Minister Farouk Hosni said. "The ministry aims at building a museum in every city in Egypt to preserve the city's heritage and raise the cultural and archaeological awareness of its inhabitants."
