Wales arts gets £385,096

Arts groups throughout Wales will receive £385,096 from the Welsh Assembly Government. The money, distributed through the Arts Council of Wales, will aim to increase the number of people who participate in the arts. Alun Pugh, Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport, said: "This is an exciting project that will help to build up arts activities in many communities across Wales and allow thousands of people who might not usually take part in arts activities to participate in a wide range of activities and learn new skills." Peter Tyndall, Chief Executive, The Arts Council of Wales, said: “The European funding will help us to research into the impact that involvement in community arts can have in developing personal and social skills, enabling people to confront and address barriers that exclude them from engaging in training and development opportunities".
