Yorkshire and the Humber receive grants for the arts
Arts Council England has announced its latest rounds of Grants for the arts awards in Yorkshire and the Humber region. A total of 38 local projects will receive a share of £506,665 National Lottery funding through the Grants for the arts awards. The awards are provided to enable individual artists to further their careers by learning new skills and techniques, creating and showing new work and reaching new audiences. Yorkshire and the Humber has benefited greatly from these awards in recent years. A total of 890 awards were made in this region in the financial year 2004/05 and the amount invested in the region for 2004/05 through these awards was £6,132,322. Commenting on the awards, Andy Carver, Executive Director of Arts Council England, Yorkshire, said: “These grants support a wide range of arts activity across the region, opening up new and accessible ways for people and communities to enjoy and become involved in the arts.
