Beauchamp announces new Deputy Minister for Culture

Canadian Minister for Culture and Communication, Mrs. Line Beauchamp, has announced the appointment of a new Deputy Minister for the Department. Endorsed by Beauchamp and her Council of Ministers, Mrs. Christiane Barbe will take up the post, effective immediately. ‘The appointment of Mrs Barbe to the highest administrative office of the Ministry testifies to my satisfaction and that of my colleagues with regard to her work as a Deputy Ministerial Assistant,’ said Beauchamp. ‘I am convinced that the standing assembly of the ministry personnel, joined by Mrs Barbe, will produce new energy’, she added. Mrs Barbe joined the team of Ministry leaders as Deputy Minister associated with Policies and Administration in 2001. Under this portfolio, she was responsible for many strategic matters, including ministerial modernisation, customer service, research preparation and managing public-private partnerships within infrastructures. Holder of a BA degree in Industrial relations, Mrs Barbe also boasts a postgraduate degree in public administration.
