Scottish Arts Council marks 10 years of lottery funding for the arts

The Scottish Arts Council is celebrating a decade of lottery funding for the arts and cultural sector, and a range of lottery funded venues across the country will be holding significant arts events to mark the occasion. Since November 1994, the National Lottery has raised over £15 billion, funding over 160,000 projects across the UK. Through the Arts Council, lottery money has supported 4,474 separate awards (totaling £219 million); helped pay for new instruments for 92 bands and orchestras; provided 157 grants for the building and refurbishment of arts buildings across Scotland; and supported more than 80 public artwork projects around the country. Lottery funds have assisted a diverse range of arts projects - from the Scottish Poetry Library, to the Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow, to local voluntary group awards - all intended for the public benefit. To commemorate ten years of lottery partnership, the Arts Council is facilitating a major celebration at the Glasgow Science Centre which will include showcase performances from National Lottery funded performers. Other events and performances will occur throughout the country. For further information, CLICK HERE.
