Lottery funds to promote arts sustainability in Wales

The Arts Council of Wales has announced plans to pilot its Programme for Sustainable Arts Organisations. The programme will work initially with six arts entities, employing an external adviser to work with organisational management and conduct an in-depth sustainability audit. Modest awards of £50,000 to £100,000 (taken from lottery funds) will then be available to meet the cost of implementing the findings. If successful in their bid, funding may be used for any purpose consistent with the aims of the programme, including the elimination of debt. Mr Peter Tyndall, Chief Executive of Arts Council Wales explains: ‘The Programme for Sustainable Arts Organisations aims to enable applicants to assess their level of sustainability. It will help them identify ways to make improvements and the changes that are necessary to address their ‘sustainability deficit’ – the gap between an organisation keeping its head above water and truly building a secure foundation for long-term development.’ For further information CLICK HERE.
