Artists and companies in Northern Ireland invited to get involved in creative learning
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has announced details of a three-year programme which aims to bring professional artists into the education system, across formal, community, voluntary and other related public sectors. The Creative Youth Partnerships initiative is part of the council’s Unlocking Creativity policy and also comes at a time of significant revision of the schools’ curriculum in Northern Ireland. The scheme aims to create, develop and sustain arts programmes for children and young people aged three to 25 years. Through creating more opportunities for young people to engage in artistic activities, the council hopes the initiative will contribute to the overall learning, personal growth and social development of young people. The partnership scheme operates two strands to bring arts to wider and younger audiences. The Individual Artist programme supports arts projects and activities running from half a day to three days in length, while the Touring Programme aims to take existing productions, workshops or exhibitions into the wider community.
