New Director of Dance at Arts Council England

Dance UK Director Jeanette Siddall has been appointed to the post of Director of Dance at Arts Council England. Siddall first joined the Arts Council in 1989 as Dance Officer, moving into the role of Senior Dance Officer before being seconded to the senior management team. She was appointed the first full-time Director of Dance UK in 2001. During her three years with the organisation, Siddall presided over a 30% increase in members which now includes about 1,000 dance companies, organisations, schools, agencies, individuals dancers, choreographers, managers, teachers and students. ‘My time with Dance UK has been wonderful,’ Siddall acknowledged, adding: ‘I look forward to using the experience I have gained, in advocating for dance and responding to the aspirations of dance professionals, in my new role.' Kim Evans, Executive Director of Arts at the council, welcomed Siddall’s appointment. 'I am delighted that Jeanette is joining Arts Council England as our Dance Director,’ he said. ‘Her work in the dance community and in the funding system has given her a wide range of experience and a national perspective, which will be very valuable.
