New Chairman for NEA
The United States Senate has confirmed the appointment of Dana Gioia to the position of ninth Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. It is expected that Gioia will assume office in February, succceeding Michael P Hammond, who passed away in January 2002. In accepting the position, Gioia said that he felt honoured by the Senate’s vote of confirmation. ‘Leading the National Endowment for the Arts is a great privilege and an enormous responsibility,’ he commented. ‘Both the arts and arts education face many challenges at present, and the Endowment has much to do.’ For more information about the NEA Click Here
