Changes at Creative New Zealand
An organisational restructure of national arts development agency, Creative New Zealand, undertaken in an effort to enhance the organisation's delivery of services to the arts sector, has been completed. Creative NZ Chief Executive, Elizabeth Kerr, explained that the reorganisation has resulted in changes of corporate structure as well as personnel. 'Some of the people the arts sector has dealt with in the past at Creative New Zealand have changed,' she commented. 'Some staff are new, and some have different roles in the new structure.' The changes include the introduction of an Arts Infrastructure Services Team, to be managed by Stephen Wainwright, which will now take an overview of professional arts organisations, and manage initiatives under the 'Future Strengths' strategy. The Arts Services Team, managed by Rob Garrett, is now responsible for specialist artform advice, while the Maori Arts Service has a new Manager, Muriwai Ihakara. Another addition to Creative New Zealand's existing network of services is the Strategic Services unit, which will be responsible for the co-ordination of business planning, research policy, strategy development and reporting requirements. According to Kerr, public response to the structural changes will be welcomed by the organisation. 'We always welcome feedback on how we can better assist artists and arts organisations achieve their aims,' she remarked.
