New library for Belize

‘Education is the key in fighting poverty, and a library is a way in which we give our children the opportunity to climb that ladder and build a great future,’ commented Belize Prime Minister Said Musa at the inauguration of a new library and computer centre in Port Loyola. The Port Loyola Library will be a branch of the National Library Service, and, with a gift of ten computers and full internet access, aims to become a source both of new information technology and more traditional reference materials. ‘By building a great future, Belize is matching growing economic prosperity. We achieve this with the talent our people, especially our children, display in arts and culture,' commented the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Belize’s Minister Ralph Fonseca and Ambassador Eamon Courtenay have recently returned from a visit to Taiwan, where they visited the new Latin Expo Plaza, which will display handcrafts and other products from Belize and a number of other South American nations.
