Secretary General
Arterial Network requires a suitably skilled and experienced person for the strategic position of Secretary General due to the incumbent’s five-year term ending on 30 April 2012. The Secretary General is responsible for driving the strategic vision of the Network, implementing the decisions of the Steering Committee and managing the Network on a day-to-day basis. The successful applicant will have excellent organisational expertise, outstanding leadership qualities, above average knowledge of international cultural policies, good international networks, sound knowledge of Arterial Network and the ability to speak and write in both English and French as well as the freedom to travel extensively on the African continent, would be advantages. S/he will be based at the Secretariat in Cape Town, South Africa under the mentorship of the current Secretary General who will remain involved in developing the organisational, leadership and financial sustainability of the Network.
Interested applicants – limited to Africans living on the continent or in the diaspora – should submit a letter of application motivating her/his suitability for the position, a Curriculum Vitae detailing experience and skills and three contactable referees, of which at least one should be a member of Arterial Network. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 24 February for interviews and the successful applicant will be expected to start on 1 April 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
