Director, Museums and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory
Primary Objective
Provide executive leadership to the Museums and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) facilities and resources, and advocacy for the visual arts and natural sciences in the Northern Territory.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, manage, direct and oversee all activities of MAGNT including strategic direction, Human Resource and finance matters, and MAGNT programs and services;
2. Ensure that MAGNT provides Territory-wide services that will allow all Territorians to participate equitably in the social and cultural life of the Northern Territory;
3. Ensure that MAGNT’s strategic plan and its implementation places appropriate emphasis on the collection, programs and services that strengthen its local, national and international status;
4. Secure financial and in-kind support for MAGNT’s activities from Government and non-Government sources including sponsors, Foundations and donors;
5. Provide executive leadership and vision that supports an innovative, diversified and flexible workforce committed to and capable of achieving MAGNT’s mission;
6. Interface with inter-agency and inter-government programs, cultural, corporate and academic sectors and the community in general;
7. Enhance MAGNT’s standing through representation and broader advocacy at local, national and international forums; and provide high level representation through the media and various community programs.
